More life drawing from the past few weeks. The line drawings are quicker poses than we have been doing, about ten minutes. I would like to do quicker but alot of the other people on the course are beginners or there to learn more traditional skills, so i'll take the ten minute poses. And besides its been good to be taught some different techniques. The watercolour is a work in progress and proves that i have alot to learn about painting!! i think i would be better suited to oil paints as my painting style appears to be a bit to rough for the delicate nature of watercolour.

More life drawing, a slighlty ropey line drawing and a couple of portraits/heads. Normally i duck out of drawing the heads in any detail in life drawing as i find it a bit tricky, so it has been good to concentrate on just the heads. One of them is slightly more successfull than the other and as ever always seem to run out of time!!

Life drawing

Doing a life drawing course again as its always good to practise, the course is taught by a very talented russian lady who has loads of great stories. Last week i even dabbled with a bit of watercolour for the first time in years (well for a figure drawing slash painting) its a work in progress but maybe i'll have a go at oils next time!!

Long time no post!!

Well its been a busy year, loads of work and changing jobs which means not many posts, but just got back from holiday in france and made some time for sketching. I took my water colours and after a very rusty start i enjoyed the painting. Some more successfull than others but i'll post them all up anyways.

Doodle pads

I have just started a new job as a pre vis animator at Black rock studio and have resurected my doodle pad which sits between me and the keyboard. I use this to doodle rubbish and draw things that i have seen (hence the little boy from the "UP" trailer i watched, and if i am being good, to rough out scenes or ideas that i am going to animate. Here are a couple of pages from the new job. They are generally collections of ref that form the starting point to an anim.
Anyway back to work for me :o)
