Work day out

Last week i had my first day out with my new job. We made the trip up from Brighton to London to have a mooch around some museums and art galleries which was great! I didn't get much sketching done but i did do some....

Doodle pads

I have just started a new job as a pre vis animator at Black rock studio and have resurected my doodle pad which sits between me and the keyboard. I use this to doodle rubbish and draw things that i have seen (hence the little boy from the "UP" trailer i watched, and if i am being good, to rough out scenes or ideas that i am going to animate. Here are a couple of pages from the new job. They are generally collections of ref that form the starting point to an anim.

Anyway back to work for me :o)

Nice day for a bit of a sketch.

Another wednesday another day sketching in the smoke with Annes and Tim with a guest appearance from Ross Seen as it was a cold day we thought the southbank would be a good spot! after a couple of hours the cold got to much so we headed into the tate modern where conviently there is a cafe at the top with a great big window looking out across london, perfect! Had a play with some water colours blocking in the shapes then drawing over the top with ink. Didn't fit on the page hence the odd composition :o) thanks to annes for the loan of the paints.

Sketching in London

So today Annes, Tim and me went into town to do a bit of sketching we started in the british museum but it was rammed so after a sandwich we moved onto the streets of soho to get a bit of peace :o) the sketch below isn't soho, i will post them soon, but i quite like it as the final sketch of the day heading back to waterloo. A good day!
